Mother's Day 2019

This is my Mother's Day card for my bio mom.  She likes lots of gunk added to her cards, so I usually load them up with flowers and lace.  I put so much on this time there is no room left for a sentiment on the front.  This is probably the most difficult card for me to make each year.  It's basically because I'm just trying to be polite by acknowledging her.  Finding an appropriate sentiment is the most difficult part.  Oh well, probably too much info.  The image is from A Day for Daisies.  I colored it with Copics.  I thought about not adding flowers, but I accidentally cut off the bottom of her braid so then there was something that needed to be hidden.

Birthday Bronc

It's time for QKR Stampede's Friday, Anything Goes Challenge.  This week I used the QKR image Bucking Bronc.  I have always looked forward to using this image...now I have.  Anyone that knows me knows I absolutely love coloring realistic animals.  This one was no exception.  I colored the image with Copics.  The paper is from American Crafts.  I used some twine to make the rope coil.

Christmas Mice

I just realized I forgot to do this post.  Thank goodness I already had it on the DT website.  This was designed for The Holly and the Ivy.  .The image is from Your Next Stamp on Etsy.  I colored it with Copics, but have lost the list.  The die is from Precious Marieke.  I  really think this die is absolutely beautiful.

Masculine Easter Card

Time for QKR's Friday Challenge.  The theme is Anything Goes.  I have chosen to make an Easter card again.  I probably have more Easter cards now then I'll ever use.  The image is QKR-digi 106007.  The image is colored with Copics.  The paper is from my stash.  I felt like using kraft and browns for this card.

Rose on Black

This was a trial run coloring on black with Prismacolor pencils.  I don't particularly like the colors I chose.  Next time I will choose some lighter shades.  Colors appear very differently than if coloring on white.  It was an interesting trial.  I learned quite a bit about what works and what doesn't.  I initially stamped the rose in white ink.  I tried to cover the lines as I colored.  The greens on this appear too bright, at least some of them do.  I added a hand dyed silk ribbon from my stash.

Ballerina in Pink

It's time for Creations in Pink April Challenge, Anything Goes as long as it is predominately pink.  Our sponsor this month is SheepSki Designs on Etsy.  I chose this ballerina image.  I colored this with Copics.  The paper, what you can see of it, is from Stampin' Up.

You Make Me Smile

This card is my first DT entry for a new challenge blog,  A Place to Start.  The  mid- month's challenge is "Three of Five."

Use 3 of these 5 elements in your project
Tag,
Parchment/Vellum,
Die
Watercolor
 Flowers

I used vellum, dies and flowers.

The image is Goosey Gander from Home Grown Digital by Sugar Nellie.  The image is colored with Copic markers.  I did a lot of work on the vellum and you can't see it because I covered it up, unfortunately.  I embossed a floral design on the vellum with an embossing tool (if that's what it is called) and then punched the edges of the vellum with Martha Stewart punches.  I will try vellum again, but I will make sure it is the main detail on the card.  I used a rectangular die to cut out the image and flowers from my stash were added.

Mermaid and Seal Pup

Yesterday when I did my craft shopping trip I found this very unusual product.  It was sold on a roll like ribbon.  I have no idea what it is, but as soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to do with it.  I thought it would be perfect for a mermaid card.  This image is by Morgan Fitzsimmons.  I was on her Design Team once upon a time.  I have had this image since then.  I really like the way the mermaid came out, but I am not happy with the seal pup.  The coloring just seems off to me.  Oh well.  I colored this image using my Prismacolor pencils.  I can't believe I didn't use them or so many years.  I am learning to use them pretty quickly.  I would have liked to do a background on this, but that's something I haven't learned yet.  It's on the list!

Heard You had an Owie!

I made this cute li'l guy for QKR's Friday Challenge, which is always Anything Goes.  I used QKR's Elephant Tear's QKR-digi 14001.  I thought he was so cute.  I love the tearful look and the bandages on his ear.  I colored him with Copic markers.  The paper is from Babies Bazaar.  It's leftovers from my daughter's baby shower invites seven years ago.  I definitely like to hold onto things.

Peach Fairy

This is an image I colored about a year ago.  I still have quite a stash of colored images.  This is from A Day for Daisies.  It is colorwd with Copics.  Since it was colored so long ago I don't have the Copic numbers. I added lots of Stickles.

Christmas Kittens

This card is my DT entry for The Holly and the Ivy Christmas Challenge.  It is an Anything Christmas Goes challenge.  The image I  used for today's card is from Aurora Wings.  For the first time in nine years I did not use Copics.  This image was colored with Prismacolor pencils and mineral spirits.  I definitely don't like the results as well as I do Copics, but it is something different.  I will be taking some pencil classes from Kit & Clowder as soon as I make the time.  I thought it would be good to have something that shows how I colored before taking the class for comparison.
