Thin Blue Line Quilt for Gabriel

This is the quilt I made for my son-in-law Gabriel.  He recently has left the police force to work in another field.  I had been working on it forever.  Doing the star-field greatly intimidated me.  I finally finished it ten o'clock on Christmas Eve.  Most quilts I have seen use a fabric pre-printed with stars.  I decided to sew each individual star on.  My husband, Tom, designed the quilt and made a perfect star-field layout for me to trace so each star would have a perfect placement.  We plan on working on quilts together after his retirement.  He will do the designing and I will do the sewing.

This is the tag on the back.
It was ordered from Etsy.

Christmas Eve

I saw someone color this image on Kit and Clowder.  I fell in love with it.  Someone wrote and asked her about the image.  She said it was a Sugar Nellie, but that the shop had closed.  I have a file for Sugar Nellie so I checked it and sure enough I had the image.  I have so many digital images I no longer have any idea of what I have.

I colored the image with Copic markers.  I have never colored a background before.  The one I saw had the sky done in dark blue.  I couldn't resist.  My coloring was far from perfect on this, but I'm happy with it.

Copics:  It's quite a list!

Gnome Couple

I found these images at DigiPqperArt on Etsy.  I thought they were adorable. No coloring necessary.  All I did was surrounded the images with gray Copic markers to add some depth.
The papers are digital.  Well on my way getting next year's cards done.

Holly Doggies and Golden Angel

Holly Doggies

I used this cute image on a Christmas card for my niece.  She absolutely is a dog fanatic. The image is from Eureka.  It is available as a digital.  I somehow have it in rubber.  I don't know why I would have paid for a rubber stamp when it's available as a digi, but I guess I did!  The image is colored with Copics.  The paper is from my stash.

Golden Angel

This card is for my dearest friend.  She collects angels so this is perfect for her.  She doesn't see my blog so I figured I could post it here.  The die is from Creative Expressions.  I have had it for several years, but this is the first time I've used it.  It was not easy to cut.  I had to keep layering extra cardstock along with my metal shim because it kept leaving certain areas uncut.  I finally got it done, though.  The paper is from Stampin' Up.

Lights In A Tangle

First Christmas card for 2020!  I used this adorable image from Mo's Digital Pencil called Little Elf Tippi.  I fell in love with this image when I first saw it.  I used miniature lights from Etsy to surround the image.  I borrowed the idea from Pat Frank, Little Elf Tippi.  The paper is from October Afternoon.

Thanksgiving Card for My Dad

This is the first card that I have made in ages.  I really wanted to send my Dad a Thanksgiving card and I hate to send a card that I didn't make.  My family has come to expect handmade cards.  Thankfully, I made all my Christmas cards before I was injured.  I am still working on healing, doing lots of physical therapy.  Altogether, I will be spending eighteen weeks in a back brace, not allowed to bend or twist, or lift anything over five pounds...such fun!

I used Brusho to color the leaves.  It was my first try at using it.  I'm not real happy with them.  I definiely need to practice more.  The stamp and die is from Stampin' Up.

I can't wait for my daughter to get here from Michigan for Christmas!  She knows how to fix my blog!  She warned me not to try to fix it again myself.  I guess I will have to wait patiently.

Birthday Shepherd

I haven't been coloring for a while, but I decided to get back to my roots and color an animal.  If you know me well, you know my passion is animals.  I have not done many lately.  Doing design work usually leads me in other directions.  This image is by Morgan Fitzsimons.  I have colored it at leas three times before.  This one is colored with Copics and Arteza Pencils.

For Two of My Angels

There are for two very special people who are helping me keep a better attitude right now.  I consider them to be "my angels."  I made each of them an angel card. I still need to find a little boy angel for my six year old grandson.  He's at my house often since it is summer break.  He is the most caring child.  He is always right there iif I need something.  I had to laugh.  His family went on a mini vacation last week.  He tells me all the time that he prays for me.  When he got back he said "Grandma, I'm sorry I forgot to pray while we were gone, but I prayed last night."  What a sweetie.

This first card is an image by Crafts and Me.  I have always loved this image and have used it several times.  It is colored with Copic markers.  The sentiment is by Lily of the Valley.

This card is also an image by Crafts and Me.  Her wings are glittered, but I could not get it to photograph well.  She is colored with Arteza Pencils.  I thought I would give them a try.  They are not quite as good as Prismacolor, but I was satisfied with how they colored.  I also have their watercolor paint brushes.  Those I have to practice with.  Watercolor is not something that comes easy for me.

Hawaiian Multi-colored Hibiscus from Kauai

I made this card for my guest DT spot for Creative Craft Cottage for July.  The theme  is summer.  I hope this flower fits in.  It exudes summer to me.  The image is ny QKR Stampede.  I found an image of a hibiscus from Kauai on Pinterest.  I loved the colors so I used that as my model.  I colored the image with Copic markers.

Copic markers:  B000, 00, 01, BG10, G20, 21, 24, RV25, 29,
Y00, 35, YG01, 03, 05, YR15, 16

Sandcastle Queen

I was offered a guest designer spot for Mo's Digital Pencil Challenge Blog for their July challenge.  Every month is Anything Goes.  July has the option of Christmas.  I somehow got my two guest DT spots confused and thought Mo's was summer.  Since it's Anything Goes  that's okay.  I wish I would have chosen a Christmas image, though.  It's been a very rough week this week.

I chose the image Sandcastle Queen.  I thought she was simply darling.  I love the bangs falling down on her face.  I also used a Mo's background.  Since the image is a PNG it worked perfectly on the background.  I colored the image with Copics.

Copics:  B21, E00, 11, 50, 51, 53, 55, G12, 14, R24, 27, Y19, 23, 28, YR24

Birthday Roses

This is my DT entery for QKR Stampede's Anything Goes Challenge.  I used the image Roses, by QKR.  I cut out the colored image and mounted it on the card with foan tapes pieces to raise it up a bit.  The image is colored with Copic markers

Copics:  G05, 07, 09, 17, 19, R22, 24, 29

Afro Girl

This card is my DT entry for the latest challenge at A Place to Start.  This time around it's Anything Goes.  I chose this beautiful image, Afro Girl, by DigiStampsAtelier.  Those of you that follow my blog probably know that he is now one of my favorite artists.  His images always challenge me.  This time I fell in love with the image, but no no idea how to color the hair.  I didn't want to give it just a flat color with minimal shading.  Thank goodness for You Tube.  I found an amazing video on how to color the hair.  It took me about an hour to do the hair, but I am really happy with the results.  Her technique gave so much depth of color to the hair.  She is colored with Copic markers.  The papers are from Stampin' Up.

Copics:  BG05, 07, E15, 18, 23, 25, 27, 29, 30, 31, 33, 34, 40, 43, 49,

Well my blog is officially messed up this morning.  A photobucket strip appeared across the page.  I tried to fix it and made it worse.  Now I lost my strip that links to my pages.  I'm not touching it again until I can find someone who knows how to fix the code! GRRR!

Harvest Elf

This is a Murphy's Law card.  Everything that could go wrong did.  I had ink blobs and smudges.  Worst of all  after I finished coloring her face I moved on to color her shoulders.  Thinking I picked up E00, I didn't.  I picked up Y20.  I immediately realized that her face was skin colored and her body was yellowish.  I took my blender and erased as much yellow as possible then went over it with E00.  It was still a little too yellow.  I decided to add a small amount of yellow to the face to compensate.  I think it turned out okay. I felt like this was definitely above my ability level, but I am so happy that I completed it.  The image I used was Harvest Elf from Aurora Wings.  I colored the image with Copic markers.

Copics:  B21, BV000, 00, 02, 04, C00, 0, 1, E00, 11,  34, 43, 99, G19, 20, 21, 24, 28,

You CRACK Me Up!

This card is my DT entry in QKR Stampede's Anything Goes Friday Challenge.  I used the image Carpenter by QKR.  I had to laugh the first time I saw this image.  Many, many years ago I worked in a school's psychology office.  We had faulty air conditioning that barely ever worked.  That is a big problem since we are in the desert.  Anyways, the district electrician was often called to fix our air  conditioning.  He always had his pants hanging down so his crack showed...always!  Our principal at the time, Mrs. Judy Balda, was a stern and feisty older woman.  She came into my office one day while he was working on the air conditioning.  She couldn't miss the obvious.  She told him to get out of her school and not to return until he learned how to hold his pants up.  I laughed when they left my office.  Go Judy!!!

Anyways, I colored this image with Copic markers.  The paper is from October Afternoon.  I bought several sheets of this paper many years ago and I try to use it sparingly since it is no longer available.

Copics:  B21, 23, C00, 1, 3, 5, E00, 11, 30, 34, 35, 37, 55, 57,

New Truck

Today starts a new Festive Friday Challenge at The Outlawz.  The sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo.  I chose the image Gus Tidbit-New Truck.  I have always found this sentiment funny.  I colored the image with Copic markers.

Dragon Helmet

This is another of my challenging images to color.  It is by DigiStampAtelier called Dragon Helmet.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  The card is made of purple and gold glitter papers.  This was another of those images that was  a challenge, but I loved every minute of it.
