Photo Inspiration

Time for Jellypark's second challenge.  This week it is a photo inspiration.  I just love this photo.  I used the colors and the ribbon as inspiration.  This image is a new release available at the Jellypark store.  I colored this with Copics and added glitter to her crown.                      The  colors I used were:  B21, B23, E00, E08, E11, E31, E34, G07, G21, G40, R21, R22, Y20, Y28, YR 14, YR17

Hollyhocks

Digi Doodle Shop's Challenge this week is "Anything Goes."  I chose the image "Country Flowers."  I used to grow hollyhocks when I lived in New Jersey.  I  loved how they looked.  Here is Arizona the only thing that grows well is cactus and tumbleweeds.  My yard is full of cactus.  We have gotten rid of the tumble weeds, thank goodness.  I'm allergic to them.  Anyway, I tried to photograph this card outdoors on the wood pile.  I just ended up chasing the card around as the wind kept blowing it off the wood.  That was not a good idea.  I did manage to get one usable photo, though.  Then, I decided to photo it on my fireplace hearth.  My cat, Lucy, kept trying to get in the photo so I took one of her.  That helped.  She didn't like the flash and went away.

I colored this image with Copic markers and used some Martha Stewart glitter on the flowers.  The punch is from Stampin' Up.

Copics: BG0000, BG10, C1, C3, C5, C7, E50, E53, E55, E57, G21, G24, R20, R22, Y17

Cocker Spaniel

I absolutely loved coloring this card.  I really do like coloring animals the best.  I get so much enjoyment out of it.  I made this card for My Time to Craft's latest challenge, Delightful Dogs.  I found this digi at Just Inklined,  I figured this would be ideal for a male birthday card.  My brother, Tony's, birthday is coming up in September.  I guess I'll save this for him.  He loves dogs.  He had a cocker spaniel, named Buddy (I think),  for many years.

I used Nestabilities dies.  The twill  ribbon is from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I believe the paper is from K & Company and I colored this with Copics.

Copics:  E31, E33, E34, E35, E51, E53, E97, G20, G21, G24, R20, R22, Y17

Chemo Angel Card

I finally made a card with a different fold!  It's my first.  I was getting a tad bored and wanted to start learning some different things.  I decided to start with this easel card.  I watched a tutorial on You Tube and it seemed very easy, so I gave it a try.  I am really pleased with the results.

The image is from A Day for Daisies.  I colored it with Copics and added some silver Stickles to her dress.  The paper is from K & Company.  I have really used this particular paper pad a lot lately.  It was well worth the price.
I made this card for ChemoAngels.  I have been participating in this group for about ten months.  It's something very worthwhile, you may want to look into it.   If you're interested you can read about this organization on their website: Chemo Angels.  I thought this sentiment would be ideal  for someone struggling through chemo or the after effects.

I can't seem to find a record of where I got the sentiment from.

Most of the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I got the pearls on the silver wire and the foam rose in the blog candy I recently won from Di's Digis.

I just won more candy from another website and I'm really excited about getting that!

Under the Sea

I have been wanting to use this digi from Karen's Doodles for a while.  I finally saw a challenge I could use it for at Crafty Calendar.  It's "Under the Sea."  I figured it would be a fun project for a Saturday afternoon.

It's so warm here in Arizona today.  I definitely could use some cooling down in the ocean.  The ocean is where I learned to swim.  I grew up within walking distance from a beach on the Atlantic Ocean.  What fun!

The paper is from K & Company.  The solids are from DCWV.  Of course I colored her with Copics.  I used some colored crystals to decorate her scales,  The bubbles I found at Big Lots over a year ago.  I saw them on sale for fifty cents.  I had no idea what I would use them for, but I couldn't pass up the bargain.  They are ideal for this card.  I felt like it still needed something.  I looked for a SVG file to cut some seaweed and couldn't find one so I decided to hand cut it. I cut three separate layers and glued them over each other. I like the 3D effect.

Copics:  B02, BG0000, BG000, BG10, BG11, BG13, BG15, E00, E02, E53, E55, E57, G14, R20, R22, Y17, YR12

For Your Recital

This is my final Guest DT card for the Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge Blog.  The challenge is "Buttons & Bows."  I thank them for giving me this opportunity to serve with their fantastic design team.   I have collected some very cute digis along the way!  This image is called "Tiny Dancer,"  It is part of the Let's Play Release.  I thought she was just darling.  This would be a great card to give to a little girl before a recital.

I colored her dress with Copics and then painted over it with Twinkling H2Os.  The picture below shows the Twinkling H2Os a little better.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the buttons are from Oriental Trading.

I did faux stitching, but because the papers had glitter on them, and the marker would not color over the glitter,  the stitching did not turn out as planned.  Learn as I go...no marker on glittered papers,

CAS Christmas Bird

I made this card for Digi Doodle Shop's Challenges.  This week's challenge is CAS.  I have the most difficult time with this type of card.  The image is from Digi Doodle Shop.  I colored it with Copics and added some Stampin' Up glitter.  I think I will make a few more of these.

I have been doing a lot of birds lately so I have been doing some research so I can color them correctly. I believe this is a scarlet tanager, at least that's how I colored it.

Fairy Candle

This is my first attempt at decorating a candle. I bought the candles about six months ago and am just getting around to trying this technique.  I need to go back and find the tutorial.  I just kind of winged this from memory.  I had a couple problems, but for the most part it came out okay.  I think I will try a Christmas candle soon.  They would make nice gifts for my co-workers.  I'll probably browse around later and look for an applicable challenge.  Right now I have to go chase the cats from eating the flowers I left out!

The image is from A Day for Daisies.  It is colored with Copics.  I believe the sentiment is from TLC.

Happy Birthday Sandy!

This card is for my eldest daughter's twenty-ninth birthday.  The image is from Whoopsi Daisy.  I have collected quite a few of their digis.  This is actually the first one I'm using.  This didn't turn out quite as I had planned.  I think the decorations are too heavy on the right.  I should have done some on the left and not quite as much on the right.

The paper is from My's Mind's Eye.  I just received it in my monthy kit from Taylored Expressions.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I have been really pleased with their service.  Considering the order is shipped from England, it gets here pretty fast.

I sprayed the flowers with a glimmer mist.  It doesn't show very well in the photo.

I colored her with copics.  Here is the list of colors used:

Citrus Colors

It's time for My Time to Craft's latest challenge "Citrus Colors."  This card was made with  a freebie offered by Unique by Annemaritta.  It was offered back in February if you want to look for it.  I went a little "glitter crazy" with this one.  I don't think it's that obvious in the photo, though.  I felt like it needed something.  Pretty much everything is from my stash.  It is colored with
 Copics.

This the first of my August cards for the Splitcoast Christmas Card Challenge.  The image is from Di's Digi Downloads.  He is colored with Copics and glittered.  The paper is from my stash and the ribbon is from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

That's it!  No more working on cards this weekend.  Need some time to catch up on other things.  Time to go clean up my workspace a.k.a dining room table.

Super Kids Birthday Cards

These cards are made with images from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I actually made the Supergirl card a while ago.  I just finished the boy card. I didn't realize until I started coloring him, but he has socks on his hands for gloves, how cute!  At least, that's what I think they are.  I thought it would be neat to photograph them together.  I've been on a card making roll today.  I must have finished five, at least.  Soon that will end.  I go back to work in a week so my time will be somewhat more  limited.then.

Jellypark's First Challenge!

Welcome to Jellypark Friend's Friday Challenges first challenge " Christmas in July."  This is a brand new digi by artist Claire Keay.  Please stop by Jellypark and see all the wonderful ideas the design team had for this adorable snowman.

I colored him with Copic markers and added some Martha Stewart punched snowflakes.  I had my husband cut me some copper wire from his stash in the garage (you would have thought I asked him to plow the north 40, but he did it anyway.)  Grumble..grumble..grumble.  Of course I needed it during a show he was watching.  I made some flags from gingham paper and glued them over the wire.  Ho, Ho, Ho is written on them, but it's hard to see in the photo.  I punched some small holes in his hands and threaded the wire through.  The greeting is from Stampin' Up.

This is my second card for the Christmas Card Challenge at Splitcoast.  Four more and July will be done.

So Cute!

Well, Jellypark Friends Friday Challenges is up and running and ready for it's first challenge. How
exciting!  This image is one of the new releases today.  I love this paper I just purchased at  Hobby Lobby.  It's ideal for this card.  I wish I knew where I got this ribbon.  It's very wide, but is very soft and flexible so it makes a beautiful bow.  Unfortunately, I realized after I glued the bow to the card, I put the right side of the knot down.  I don't think I've made one card that doesn't have at least one little glitch on it.  Par for the course.  I colored this with Copics and the flowers are from my stash.

Forever Friends

This is my Design Team entry for Digi Doodle Shop Challenges #67-Make Your Own Flowers..  This is something I have been practicing lately so I was very glad to see this challenge.   I didn't do any coloring.  I don't think I have ever made a card that didn't require coloring before.  It certainly made the task a whole lot  easier!

I used a couple of different dies to make the flowers.  The largest flowers were made from a Cuttlebug die.  I cut out the flowers, and edged them with ink.  Then I sprayed them pretty heavily with water and punched holes through the centers.  After stacking the different sizes on a brad I scrunched them up and let them dry.  I sprayed them with a little glimmer spray when they were dry.  The roses were made with a Dienamics die as was the daisy-like flower.  The leaves were cut with a Sizzix die and the small sprays with a Martha Stewart punch.

The paper is from K & Company.  The gorgeous silk ribbon is from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. The sentiment is from Digi Doodles Shop and was cut out with a Nestabilities die.

My Car is Out of Commission...Hopefully, Only Temporarily

It's funny what can give you inspiration for a card.  My car started having a major problem on Saturday...it stalls every time I put it in reverse.  I am not happy.  I took it in to the shop yesterday.  It may be the transmission.  I'm hoping not!  I should find out the damages this afternoon.  In the mean time I get to drive the "paperweight" in the garage.  Let me explain that one.  We bought a new car, a very nice one, four years ago.  My husband feels that it is our "good car."  He doesn't like us to drive it unnecessarily.  Drives me crazy!  We have less than ten thousand miles on it in four years. Oh well, until my car is fixed it's fair game.

Anyway, I found this image, quite by accident yesterday, at Di's Digi Downloads.  I couldn't resist.

Copics:  B00,B01, B02, B23, B24, C3, C5, C7, E31, E343, E34, E37, E50, E51, E53, E57, G21, G24, N1, N3, R21, R24, R27, R37, W0. W1, Y00, Y02, Y08, YR12, YR16

Winter Chickadee

It's time for My Time to Craft's new challenge.  This week the challenge is "Bird Watcher."  This is my DT entry.  The image is Winter Chickadee from Fred She Said.  It is available in black and white or a pre-colored digi.  After how many times I had to redo this, I probably should have used the colored one, but that would have taken the fun out of it for me.  I am also using this as the first of my July entries for Splitcoast Stampers Christmas Card Challenge.

I had a really good time craft shopping.  Lots of sales, and I had some really good coupons, too.  I didn't use any of my new toys yet, although, I did buy a heap of them.  I was able to find a scoreboard.  Hopefully, this week I'll get a chance to use it.  I also bought a beginner quilling kit.  This should be interesting!  I've seen some beautiful quilled flowers on cards lately and I thought I would give it a try.

The paper is Mirabella from Paper Studio.  I used Copic markers to color.

Birthday Puppy

This week I'm a guest Designer for My Sherie's Craft .  I'm very excited to have this opportunity.  I was able to choose this week's challenge.  It is "Faithful Companions."  I chose this adorable digi by Crissy Armstrong available at Whimsy Stamps.  What child wouldn't love to get a puppy for their birthday?  I would love one now!

I colored her with Copics.  The flowers were made with a Dienamics die.

Time for some fun shopping today!  We have no craft stores in our town.  In fact, our Walmart just cleared out their craft department.  They have almost no scrapbooking items left.  So today, my daughter and I are going to Lake Havasu, AZ (the hottest place in the country) to do some craft shopping.  The temperature high today is expected to be around 112 degrees.  Just a tad warm.  Thank goodness for air conditioning!  They just had a Hobby Lobby open on the fourth and they have a Michael's.  So next week, hopefully, I will have some different goodies to play with!  One thing I really want is a scoreboard.  I getting bored with square cards and want to start making cards with different folds.

Toby's Big Day

This is my Guest DT entry for Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge #58-Birthday. This is my next to last challenge as a Guest Designer.   I chose the image Toby's Big Day.  I'm back to using aqua again.  It's getting to be one of my favorite colors.  I had planned on paper piecing the wrapping paper on the box, but I closed my word program before I printed it on patterned paper.  I figured I would never get the size to match correctly if I did it again so I just colored it in with random dots.  I'm glad I did.  I rather like how it looks.

The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and I colored the image with Copic markers.
