Fairy of the Forest

I found a new shop on Etsy called Fairy TangleArt.  Isn't this image so exciting.  It was really fun to color.  I must admit it did take the better part of an afternoon.  Dinner was definitely late this evening.  I also purchased another image.  I may color that one next weekend.  I intentionally didn't add any papers so the image would stand out.  I thought about flowers, too, but decided against it.  I did use some Stickles to add a little shine.

Th Copic color list was huge for this one.  I felt like I was pulling them all out!

Bahama Woodstar

This card took quite a bit of research before I could color it.  The image is from Sparkle 'n Sprinkle.  The bird, it turns out is a Bahama Woodstar.  It's a hummingbird that is only seen in the Bahamas.  I had a more difficult time figuring out what the plant is.  I believe it is a orchid tree flower and they do have those in the Bahamas. So chances are that's probably correct.  I used a Spellbinder's die to cut out the image and distressed the edges.  The butterflies are from Cheery Lynn.  I finally figured out how to make my dies work better.  I'm sure everyone else already knows this, but I cut some wax paper with the dies and no more sticking!

Cowboy Tag

Cardz 4 Guys challenge this week is tags.  Either make a tag oe include a tag on your project.  This weekend has been very busy for me.  I thought it would same some time to make a tag.  All I can say is I need quite a bit of practice.  This was the first tag I've done.  I had a very difficult time coming up with an idea.  I bought a box of 100 tags (that's all Staples had available).  I could have made my own, but was a bit lazy.  I suppose with 99 tags left over you'll be seeing some more tags from me sometime.

I used Tim Holtz distressed ink pads for the background.  The horse was cut with the Silhouette.  The word and badge were in my stash.

Bare Butt Bear

I have had this image from QKR Stampede for the longest time.  I finally got a chance to use it.

I tried a new technique.  I colored the image with Copics.  I wanted a fur look for the bear so I tried a washcloth with colorless blender on it.  I have one blotchy bear!   I don't think I will try that technique again!  It looked great online when the person did a demo.

I cut the stethoscope and hypodermic needle with the Silhouette.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I am really looking forward to Sunday.  That's when we'll celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  There is no way to get corned beef and everything else done on time on a Monday.  I just went out and bought my corned beef.  I'm also making cabbage, boiled potatoes and homemade dark rye.  That bread is amazing.  this is probably my favorite meal of the year.  Anyways, enough about food.

This card is for QKR Stampede's challenge #78 Green.  the image is from QKR.  The digital papers are from Sassy's Designs.  I colored him with Copics and cut the shamrocks out with the Silhouette.

Steampunk Owl

This is my first Design Team card for Cardz 4 Guys.  I thought this would be an ideal challenge blog for me to break back into DT work.  I really love the idea of making cards for men.  I don't have to deal with ribbons, lace, flowers and such.  It's really nice for a change.

The challenge this week is #9  Words or a Name (Typography).

I found this image on Etsy at Aurora Wings  I just loved the look of it.  I haven't done a Steampunk card in years.  The paper is from Etsy also.  It's available at Vectoria Designs..The typewriter letters are by Graphic 45. I basically had to design words around the letters I had left.  I bought the gears at Hobby Lobby.  I have no idea who the manufacturer is.

I colored the owl with Copics.  I found a perfect color combo on a blog called In Rosie's Book

Mounrain Lion

This will be my last animal for a little while...I promise.  I needed one more male card.  I have used this image a few times.  Along with the rooster it's a favorite of mine.

The image is from Digi Doodle Shop.  Which I mentioned when I did the rooster, is now closed.
I colored him with Copics.  I really like the paper, it's  from Coredinations.
Fortunately, I bought a couple pieces.

Oh well, I'm burned out.  It's 9:00 and my bedtime.  I need to avoid my craft desk for a few days and catch up on housework.  Next week is spring break...plenty of time to craft!

Playing with my Photo Program

I have been playing with my photo program today with different brightnesses, contrasts and lightings.  It is amazing how you can alter how a picture looks after it is taken.  I think the first is my favorite, but I also really like the second.  The third has too much yellow, in my opinion.

The image is from Sparkle n Sprinkle.  I just came across the website yesterday and bought a few animal digis.  .I colored the image with Copic markers. It didn't take very much to color it since it is a predominately white animal.  I decided to go with a brownish gray for the color.  I looked up snow leopards and some actually do have blue eyes although, most have muted tones. I actually put three different blue tones in the eyes.  You can't tell at all.  I did decide not to put a greeting on the front.  I wanted to keep it as simple as possible.  My husband came in as I was photographing this card and said "What made you choose that image?"  Thanks, hun....Men!

Have a Wonderful Day!

This image is from Digi Doodle Shop.  The shop is no longer in business.  They had the most wonderful, realistic animal images.  Fortunately, I was able to get most of them before the shop closed.

This image is colored with Copics.  The papers are from October Afternoon.  I cut the chicken wire and the wheat with my Silhouette.

One thing I have noticed about the Silhouette that I really dislike is the quality of the mats.  I was able to use my Cricut mats for a long time.  I find that the Silhouette mats are destroyed extremely quickly, which runs into a lot of money.  Of course, the Silhouette itself is immensely better than the Cricut.  I may try a Cricut mat in it to see if it works,
