Card for Ann

I made this card for my sister-in-law, Ann.  She is into Renaissance clothing.  Although, this is not on the fancier end of the clothing.  The image is Cameo 8 available at Fitztown.  I am trying to work on skin and hair.  I actually got the hair to where I am somewhat satisfied.  I am learning, with lots of practice, how to highlight curly hair.  I'm still working on skin tones.  I tried a new combo this time.  Tom, my husband/art critic thought my skin tones were a bit too orange using the E00, E02 combo that I have been using for years.  I must admit I like this look better.

I colored her with Copics.  The flowers and embellishments are from Live and Love Crafts. The beautiful ribbon is from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  That's been in my stash for about three years. The butterfly die is from Cheery Lynn Designs.

Pony Express

This week's challenge at QKR Stampede is "Clean and Simple."   I used the cute digi Pony Express available here.  In the digi the horse is only black and white.  I colored over the black with marker to intensify the color and added the brown to give it more depth.  I like the way it turned out.  I almost never say that!

I colored the image with Copics and edged the paper with Distressed Inks.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

4 Krafty Girlz   Anything Goes
Paper Crafting Journey  For that Special Man
A Song in your Heart Let's Hear it for the Boy
Ruby's Rainbow  Animals

Just Plane Cute

This week's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is to make a Action/Movement card.  Okay, well my trashcan is now full of ripped up cards.  I guess I am not someone who likes to try new things!  This card was cut with the Silhouette and the Silhouette was not behaving itself.  The card actually does work, though.  I am happy with that.  The background digital paper is from Echo Park.  I do love the lettering!

I also tried watercolor pencils again this week.  My husband gave me an okay to buy a set of Derwent Intense Ink pencils as an anniversary gift.  We're married 38 years this month.  I have been watching some videos on their use.  I figured, because they are so pricey, I would try my Prismacolor watercolor pencils again first. The results were not good! I decided the Derwent pencils would probably sit and go unused so I decided not to buy them.  I wish I would have done that with my Distressed Inks.  I see absolutely gorgeous images done with them.  When I try it looks like a first grader did the painting.  I don't really know what I'm doing wrong.  The color just doesn't seem to spread like it does in the videos.  Anybody want to come to the Arizona desert during our gorgeous summer weather and give me some lessons?

Thank You Rose

The challenge this week at Fitztown is "Thank You."  I decided to make a CAS card which is something I don't do very often.  I used the lovely image Valentine 12 available here.

I colored the image with Copic makers:  BG0000, BG000, B10, G21, G24, G28, R20, R22, R27

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Birdhouse

I designed this card for QKR Stampede's latest challenge, Punch and or Dies.  The image Birdhouse and Vines is available here.  It is also available as a rubber stamp for those who prefer using them.  I colored this image with Copics.  The die is from Spellbinder's.  I decided not to put a sentiment on the front since this is a much smaller card than I usually make.  I haven't used this ribbon in ages.  It is a gorgeous silk ribbon from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

Lighthouse II

This week's challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz is "Nautical."  I used this lovely lighthouse image from Digi Doodle Shop.  The paper is from The Triple Jewel on Etsy.  I bought a set of Maps and absolutely love them.  I hardly use regular papers anymore.  Digital is so much more convenient and I never have to worry about running out.  The charm is from Live and Love Crafts.

I colored this image with Copic markers.  I did the sky with Stampin' Up pastels.  I don't think they make those anymore.  I'll have to find a substitute when they are gone.  I know they won't last forever.

Copics:  B41, B91, B93, B95, B97, B99, C0, C1, C2, C3, E33, E35, E37, E39, G21, G24, G28, R46, R59, Y32

QKR Challenge #87

This is my fist Design Team card for QKR Stampede challenge #87 Anything Goes with a Twist:  Gems or Rhinestones.  This image #11401, Picking Flowers, is available here.  Isn't see a sweetheart.  I colored the image with Copics and cut the scroll frame with the Silhouette.

The challenge this week at Cardz 4 Guyz is Bingo.  Here's the Bingo grid:

Twine
Brads
Embossing
Distressing

Button(s)

The image I used is from Digi Doodle Shop which is no longer open.  I had this image colored for about two years.  I'm glad I finally got to use it.  The image is colored with Copics.  The paper is from my stash.
The three bingo choices I chose are:  distressing, image, sentiment. You can only use the items in your row.  No additions.

When Life Gives You Scraps

I made this card for a friend I haven't seen in a long while.  I saw this image made into a card recently and it reminded me of my friend who loves to quilt.  I decided I would make it for her.  I have been making so many male cards lately it was so exciting to make a girlie card.  I probably went a tad overboard!

This image is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  The paper is from October Afternoon.  I have been saving this piece for a few years.  This seemed like the ideal time to use it.  The flowers and metal pieces are from Live and Love Crafts and Wild Orchid Crafts.  I colored the image with Copics.
