Santa Lane

 

 

These two cards were made with this year's Christmas box set from Spellbinder's called Santa Lane.  I love the images, but these were the two most difficult cards I have ever made.  Between clumsy fingers, losing pieces and a multitude of other problems.these took me a week to complete. I am happy with the finished cards.  I do wish I had put some sort of background on them.

 

 

 

 Needing to use my vast collection of card stock scraps led to a two day job.  I have a huge hanging file basket full of twelve years of card stock scraps sorted by color.  It was just about impossible to pull anything out of it or put anything in.  I decided to staple a file width pocket at the inside top of each file folder.  I put the small pieces of card stock in that pocket which freed up a huge amount of space at the bottom of the folders.  I can now easily pull the files in and out.  I plan on trying to use up all the small pieces first.  These cards were made completely out of small scraps of card stock.After all the troubles I had I am going to start their 2021 Christmas set called.  All Aboard.  I will be making to train cards.  I think they will be easier than these were.  I'm a glutton for punishment.

 

 

 

 

 

Christmas Copper

 

 

This is one of my favorite cards that I have made recently.  Although, I have the most difficult time using my Glimmer System.  I ALWAYS put the foil on backwards.  I don't know why I can't get it right.  I read the directions and watched a video and I still did it backwards three times anyways!  I am going to put a sign up over my desk that says:

"GLIMMER FOIL - SILVER SIDE UP!"

Maybe that will help me get it right.  Anyways I used Spellbinder's dies to make this card and copper card stock from Stampin' Up.

Sweetest Times

 

I saw some cards made with this Stampin' Up set on Pinterest.  It's Sweetest Times and was released in 2020.  I made five cards from it.  I am way past the number of cards needed for this year.  I have been really struggling with my crafting.  It's a combo of issues between arthritis in my hands and worsening vision.  I try to keep coloring at a minimum. I have been buying Stampin' Up sets for years.  It's about time I start using them.  The last card is not photographed very well.  I'm too tired to redo it.

Little Basset

 

I absolutely love this little basset hound image by Morgan Fitzsimons.  It is available here.  This is my September DT entry for Morgan's Art World Challenge Blog.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  The dies are by Spellbinder's.  The paper is older than the hills so I don't know who it is by.

Lighthouse Point

 

This is the first card that Tom and I have worked on together.  I did the die cutting and coloring of the water.  He did the lighting  We used two Stampin' Up Stamp sets, Lighthouse Point (Lighthouse and Rock) and Waves of Inspiration (Sea Gulls and Clouds.)  I unfortunately,  lost the small die for the under layer of the small cloud so I had to jury-rig it using cut pieces of the larger cloud. The bottom picture shows the lighthouse lit.  It is actually quite bright.  I didn't show the bottom of the card because I had paper clips putting pressure on the card so it would stay lit. To light it up you just need to push the "B" in Birthday.  My husband did a good job with the lighting.

We followed a You Tube video tutorial by Tina's Crafty Ink Spot.  Here is the link  Lighthouse Video  Tom actually changed the way it is done after making the first one.  He liked his way better.  We made seven of them.  I have lots of men on my birthday card list.

Make Over Card

 

This card is a remake of a card my daughter gave to my husband one Christmas with his gift in it.  I always loved the decoration on the card so I saved it.  I finally decided to strip off the decoration and apply it to a new card base. It originally was on a solid ivory.  I decided to go with green gingham.

Merry & Bright

I am trying to gradually work my way through the dresser full of stamp sets I have and have never used.  I bought this die set about six years ago, but for some reason never purchased the stamp set to go with it.  I now wish I had. It definitely needs something more, but I'm calling it a day,  It has a sentiment inside, my stamp on the back.  Officially complete!  This is for the November card challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  I still need to complete June through October.

Christmas Cards

 

Here are a few more cards I made for the Splitcoast Stampers Christmas Card Challenge.  I saw a card made with this Santa digi and fell in love with it.  I went to the website and saw that the manufacturer was named Quigglefly.  I searched for a while and couldn't find them.  The next morning I remembered a company that I had purchased some of my first digis from back in 2010.  It was called Squigglefly.  I still have my folder so I checked and to my surprise, I already owned it.  Tom asked me how I could not have remembered that I already owned it.  Truth is I have almost ten thousand digis.  A lot were from design teams, even more I purchased myself.  Quite a few were given away as freebies.  I don't think anyone having that many would remember them all. I colored the image with Copic markers.  The paper is from Stampin' Up.

The next card is from a new Stampin' Up set. I thought this was so cute!  This was also colored with Copic markers.

This is another new Stampin' Up image.  No coloring on this one!

Owl in Tree

 

This is Owl1 available at Creative Art Design Studio.  I used Copic markers for the base colors and filled in with pencils for the texture and details.  The colors on the photograph are not quite the colors on the original.  I can't seem to get the lighting right.  I need to find another place to do it.  I found this die on Amazon.  I had seen it used on Pinterest as a shaker card.  I had never made a shaker card before and had absolutely no idea how to do one.  I just did what made sense to me and it really didn't work out well.  I am still going to use it.  After I finished the card I looked on You Tube and found some much easier directions for making a shaker card.  That attempt should be coming up sometime soon.  I also forgot the gold ribbon to hang the ornaments on.  Oh well, next time!  Lots of senior moments going on lately!

 

Believe

I made these two Christmas cards using a pre-colored image from Jan's Digi Stamps.  I just couldn't resist the image.  The first card uses a Spellbinder's die.  The paper for both cards was in a pack ordered from Amazon.  These cards are my May entry for Splitcoast's Christmas Card Challenge.  I am officially done with homeschooling now so let the crafting begin!

Karate Kid

My nephew James just earned his blue belt.  I thought it would be cute to design a birthday card that reflected his achievement.  The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I colored the image with Copic markers. and added some plastic starts for decoration.

Golden Eagle

 

   

I have been trying to find my way back to coloring animals which always has been my true passion.  I used Golden Eagle  available here: Creative Art Design Studio.  I used a mix of Copics for the base colors and Luminance pencils for the details.  I need seven male cards ASAP.  This is the first of them  July is absolutely full of birthdays for my family.  This is my Design Team entry for the July Anything Goes Challenge at Morgan's Art World Challenge Blog.

Gilded Angel and Tiger

 My computer has been down so long that I never got my May post online for Morgan's Art World.  So I finally have a new computer and it is set up.  So hopefully, I can be posting again.  I used the image Angel 1-Digital.  I colored her with Copic markers and  added glitter to the wings.  I always add glitter to angels wings, it seems.

I used Tiger 1-Digital for this image.  This is probably the fourth time I have used this image on a card.  I absolutely love it.  I previously made a very similar card using the same embossing folder, but it was a square card.  Hopefully, next month things will be back to normal.  I am still home schooling.  That will end mid-July.  Now, I will add driving one grandson to day camp every day and taking the other to swim lessons daily.  Card making and visiting web sites is pretty much going to be non-existant for a while.  I can't wait for mid-July .  Saying I'm burned out is an understatement.  I am backed up on pretty much everything and still dealing with chronic pain from the collapsed spine.  But hey, life goes on!
